Euphorbia can be propagated by taking cuttings, dividing the plant, or allowing it to self-sow

Taking cuttings

Prepare tools: Disinfect your knife with hot water or alcohol to prevent spreading bacteria

Take the cutting: In early spring, cut a young, pliable green shoot from the base of the plant. You can also cut off bumps on the plant.

Prepare the cutting: Remove some leaves from the cutting and wash off any milky sap with warm water

Root the cutting: Dip the base of the cutting in rooting hormone. Then, plant the cutting in a pot with a well-draining mix of potting soil and sand

Place in a warm location: Put the pot in a warm spot with indirect sunlight

Water: Water the cutting when you see new growth

    Dividing the plant

In early spring or early fall, divide the plant into multiple sections

    Allowing the plant to self-sow

    • Evergreen types of euphorbia may self-sow in the right conditions
    • Remove young seedlings from the plant as they appear
