Heucherella, also known as coral bells, can be propagated by division, cuttings, or seeds

Division

  1. Dig up the mature plant in early spring or fall
  2. Gently separate the root ball into sections with roots and foliage
  3. Discard the old center of the plant
  4. Replant the sections in pots or in the ground
  5. Water regularly, especially in hot weather
  6. Keep the root ball above the soil surface to prevent rotting

Cuttings

  1. Trim the stem and remove some older leaves
  2. Plunge the cutting into a hole in compost
  3. Firm the compost around the cutting
  4. Place in a shady spot and water regularly

Seeds

  1. Collect seeds from the plant or buy them
  2. Plant the seeds in a free-draining seed mix

Sanitation

Use clean tools to avoid spreading disease from one plant to another
