Heucherella, also known as coral bells, can be propagated by division, cuttings, or seeds.
Division
- Dig up the mature plant in early spring or fall
- Gently separate the root ball into sections with roots and foliage
- Discard the old center of the plant
- Replant the sections in pots or in the ground
- Water regularly, especially in hot weather
- Keep the root ball above the soil surface to prevent rotting
Cuttings
- Trim the stem and remove some older leaves
- Plunge the cutting into a hole in compost
- Firm the compost around the cutting
- Place in a shady spot and water regularly
Seeds
- Collect seeds from the plant or buy them
- Plant the seeds in a free-draining seed mix
Sanitation
Use clean tools to avoid spreading disease from one plant to another
