To propagate a pitcher plant, you can take cuttings from a healthy plant and root them in water or a soilless medium. The best time to do this is during the growing season, which is usually in spring or early summer.

Steps

Select a stem: Choose a healthy stem from a mature plant that’s actively growing.

Make the cut: Use a clean, sharp razor to cut the stem just below a node.

Prepare the cutting: Remove some of the lower leaves and dip the cut end in rooting hormone powder.

Plant the cutting: Place the cutting in a pot with a moist, well-draining medium, such as sphagnum moss.

Water and cover: Water the pot and cover it with a plastic bag to increase humidity.

Place in a bright location: Put the pot in a bright room or under grow lights.

Wait for roots: After a few weeks, roots and new shoots should appear.

Transplant: Once new leaves appear, you can transplant the cutting into a small pot.

    Tips

To reduce transpiration, you can cut half of each leaf, except the top two.

Change the water in the pot at least once a week.  Remove the plastic bag periodically to prevent mold growth.  Choose a small pot to encourage healthy root growth.
