Society garlic can be propagated by division or by seed. Division is the best method and involves separating a clump of the plant into smaller sections.

Division

Dig up the clump: In late fall or early winter, dig up a clump of society garlic after it has finished flowering.

Separate the clump: Use a sharp spade or knife to cut the clump in half, or into smaller sections. Each new section should have some of the root system.

Trim the foliage: Cut off the top half of the foliage on the removed section.

Plant the sections: Plant the sections in well-drained soil, at the same depth they were originally. Water them well.

Repeat: You can divide the plant every two or three years.

    Seed

Collect the seeds: After the flowers dry out, collect the seeds from the plant.

Plant the seeds: Plant the seeds in the ground, covering them with no more than 1/4 inch of fine soil.

Water the seeds: Keep the seeds moist.

You can use garden gloves, pruning shears, a shovel, and a watering can to propagate society garlic.
